MATT CLARK TILE PROFILE: OCEANSIDE GLASSTILE

Hey all!

Summer is in full swing; and we’ve decided to start a fun, new, blog series! Over the next few months, our team will be profiling some of our favorite companies to share. This week, Devon –  our showroom assistant, decided to dive into her personal favorite: Oceanside Glass Tile!

“The beach has always been my hearts home, and I’ve been lucky enough to live here on the Central Coast of California my whole life.

When I first joined the Matt Clark Tile & Stone team and began learning about each of these companies we work with, Oceanside Glass Tile, of course, stood out to me instantly.

Oceanside Glass Tile was founded in 1992 with a boundless spirit of innovation, a passion for hot glass and a new vision for the tile industry; creating luxury glass tile using recycled bottle glass. As pioneers of handcrafted glass tile they continue to pursue timeless design that preserves, honors and furthers California true artisan heritage.

Their mantra “From Curbside to Oceanside” describes their dedication to transforming glass into expressive design materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. Moreover, their efforts to be a sustainable organization extend far beyond this fundamental product attribute.

All Oceanside Glasstile is made primarily from silica sand, an abundant natural resource, with many colors also containing recycled content that may include pre-consumer and/or post-consumer recycled bottle glass from curbside recycling programs. Most of the bottles used were actually once Corona’s!

Because of its handcrafted nature and broad range of translucent and iridescent colors, Oceanside Glasstile is an exceptionally beautiful building material—an ideal choice for helping people create beautiful and comforting living spaces, conducive to health and productivity, all of which is part of green building. Their colors are not limited to one palet, either. The website offers a tool to help you customize your color ways. Check it out to see the endless options! http://www.glasstile.com/BlendBuilder.aspx

Glass tile is a very strong building material that is impervious to water and freeze/thaw resistant. This long-lasting durability further adds to its sustainability. Call for an appointment so that we can introduce you.”
