Dear Family, Friends and Clients,
I want to let you know a little more about me in the tile world.
I was trained by NYC's Premier tile company: AA Tile, Led by the late Armand Agresti and Frank DiMercurio in NYC in the 1980's. Working with Country Floors founder Norman Karlson, we were first in the country to install Sicis, tumbled stone, OGT paper faced glass mosaic and many other emerging products. In the late 80’s I worked directly with Ann Sacks at her first store in Portland. I also did many of the design displays at the Hasting Tile Showroom on Park avenue south
In the 1990's I worked exclusively for Jed Johnson with David Garbo on projects including Gwathmy Siegel and I.Grace. With I.Grace company I was honored to work for Armand Agresti restoring Frank Lloyd Wright Hoffman House. This was an amazing time in my life. Every day walking into a jobsite I was blown away by awe inspiring architectural homes and businesses This was my training in design. I realize I worked in nearly every building with a name around Central Park! It was a terrific proving ground made possible by my great mentors, Armand, Frank, Ann, Jed, David, and Norman. I even got to do some tile work at I.M.Pies' headquarters!
Recently I worked for malibu's premier architect Ed Niles Architect on the water in Malibu. The Green Residence. Restored all the tile at the historic 103 Maiden Lane property in Avalon Harbor, Catalina Island. Specified, supplied and installed the model rooms at Hotel Figueroa major restoration. Specified and installed the Hearst San Simeon Beach house kitchen. Hotel Joaguin in laguna beach. So many fun projects!

As well as co-owning Matt Clark Tile, a great tile showroom, with my life partner Katie Franklin, I run an installation company called San Marco Tile & Marble. A small crew that I work closely with to deliver exactly what the client specified. We specialize in Schluter Kerdi and Ditra, the most forward-thinking installation products that virtually eliminate cracking, mildew and mold, or leaking.
Our local showroom is exclusively appointed with many of the finest lines available only in larger metro areas.
Here at Matt Clark Tile in SLO we are happy to provide the central coast solutions for hard surface design, specification and job supervision that will assure a detailed and budget aware result.
