Matthias Clark

Owner and founder of Matt Clark Tile & Stone and San Marco Tile & Marble. The og “tile guy” of San Luis Obispo. With his 40+ years in the tile industry and his intriguing eye for design, Matt creates beautiful tile in homes all over the central coast.

With decades of tile experience, fifth generation “tile guy” Matthias Clark prides himself on his industry expertise and impeccable taste when it comes to tile and interior design.

In 1977, Clark began working with tile and stone in Malibu. In the eighties in New York City, Clark apprenticed with fourth generation Italian tile installer, Armand Agresti.

After mastering proper techniques and developing his talent for creative design, Clark returned to the West Coast. In 1988, he worked with the incomparable Ann Sacks at her original Portland showroom. In the nineties, he worked again in NYC with David Garbo and Jed Johnson. In 2002, Clark and his wife, Katie Franklin, opened their tile design studio, Matt Clark Tile & Stone, here in San Luis Obispo.

Throughout the years Clark has had the opportunity to work with a number of outstanding architects, designers, craftsmen, artists and clients on both coasts.
